Wind Cave National Park

Wind Cave National Park is home to the fifth longest cave in the world, with over 136 miles of passages. Wind Cave was first discovered in 1881 and contains passages over 300 million years old. By 1903, it became the first cave in the world to be designated a national park. The cave was created in the Madison Limestone formation and the Minnelusa Formation, which helped form the incredible, rare "boxwork" visible today.

Visit the park Visitor Center to schedule a guided cave tour to experience this magnificent underground wonder for yourself. Spend time in the Visitor Center to view the exhibits, videos, books and maps. The top-side of the park offers 30 miles of hiking trails and nature trails.
