Crazy Horses Memorial & Mount Rushmore
America’s Icons in Western South Dakota
Crazy Horse Memorial
The Crazy Horse Memorial has been under construction on Thunderhead Mountain since the 1940s, and plans to be the largest sculpted monument upon completion.
Be sure to check out this history-in-the-making, and stop by the onsite Native American Cultural Center and Indian Museum of North America.
But don’t get too comfortable – the Mount Rushmore National Memorial is just a short drive away. Set near the city of Keystone, Mount Rushmore has been a staple of American history and family vacations for nearly a century.
Constructed in the Badlands region of South Dakota, Mount Rushmore NM encompasses more than one million acres of western South Dakota.
Ran by the U.S. National Park Service – the monument offers other traveler-friendly attractions like the Lincoln Borglum Museum and the Presidential Trail.
Take advantage of the audio tour at Mount Rushmore, brush up on American heritage at the memorial’s bookstore, or even celebrate Independence Day at Mount Rushmore when traveling through South Dakota during the summer.
